Tips to get the most out of your stockings

  • Put on your support stockings as soon as possible after getting up before your legs get swollen. Always wear the support stockings all day until you go to bed.
  • We recommend wearing rubber gloves when putting on the support stockings. This ensures that you push the stockings evenly over the leg without damaging them in the process.

  • If you are experiencing problems getting on and off the stockings, get a pull aid to help you with these heavy tasks. Using a thin pantyhose as a base layer makes it possible to slide the support stockings over the leg with little effort.

  • Carefully trim your toe and fingernails to avoid any risk of getting stuck to your support stockings.

  • Wear your support stockings every day and not just occasionally. Do not even think about wearing them during the summer months! Especially during the hottest time of the year, your legs need the support more than ever. If you are traveling or on vacation, always remember to wear your support stockings.

  • Wear your support stockings during exercise. The stockings work especially well in combination with the movement of the legs.

  • On hot days it is advisable to repeatedly rinse your legs with the stockings under cold water. If you are at work, make the stockings wet with your hands. A water spray bottle can be particularly useful and refreshing. If possible, use distilled or softened water. The cooling effect of the evaporation of the water is a very pleasant feeling. Specialty stores also offer cooling sprays, but they are not cheap.

  • In warm weather, long trousers over the support stockings can become torture because the heat can not be easily drained. Therefore wear, whenever possible, shorts or skirts over your stockings. In addition, it is advisable to wear the X-Cool stockings in hot weather, because of the moisture-carrying materials.

  • You can also try to combine knee high compression stockings with a good supportive panty.

  • Stockings with stay-up straps can slide on hairy legs. Despite the fact that STOX has developed very advanced stay-up tires, it can occur that they shift on hairy legs. In this case, the leg hair should be removed by shaving or epilating. Specialty stores also sell different types of glue to prevent the support stockings from sliding downwards.

  • When you need to get your legs measured for the right support stockings, plan your appointment as early as possible to ensure that your legs are not swollen.

  • Wash your support stockings regularly, preferably every night after you have taken them off, but at least every three days. It is recommended to have at least two pairs of support stockings, which you can alternate between wearing and washing. Wash the stockings in warm water with a special detergent or with a nice washing program of the washing machine with a mild detergent. It is best to wash the support stockings by hand. Do not use aggressive detergent or fabric softener! Do not wring out the support stockings to try to get the water out and do not put them in the dryer. Dry the support stockings on the clothesline or on a rack, but not in direct sunlight or on radiators.

  • Start caring for your legs at an early age! Even young people often have early venous problems. This is often the case when family members (parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, uncles or aunts) have venous disorders or spider veins. In such cases, you should not be reluctant to start wearing (good) support stockings or a supportive panty as a preventative measure, even at young ages of 14 to 16 years. This applies to both teenage girls and boys. You should not bicker if you have to wear support stockings at an early age. The consequences of not doing it are far worse!
